Cold War Conversations joint 30th Anniversary of the opening of the Berlin Wall commemoration event with Imperial War Museum North

I am delighted to announce a joint event with Cold War Conversations History Podcast and Imperial War Museum North in Manchester on 9th & 10th Nov to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the opening of the #BerlinWall.

We’re looking for former GDR citizens including military as well as UK military veterans who might be interested in coming along and talking to members of the public about their experiences.

The event will take place at IWM North in Manchester, from 11.00am to 3.00pm (with comfort breaks) on Saturday 9 November and Sunday 10 November. Lunch will be provided to participants on both days, and we can also pay for your travel and accommodation where required.

The format of the event is very relaxed – essentially we place a few armchairs in our exhibition gallery and visitors can come along to have a chat with you and ask questions about your experiences – see this page of the IWM website to get an idea of this.

We will have items on display linked to the Berlin Wall and Cold War, and so participants can also use these as a springboard for conversation. Our visitors will include families.

Please email  me if you are interested or know anyone else who might be at ian “at” coldwarconversations.com.

Thank you
